Spain is a country located in South Western Europe bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, France and Portugal the county is the second largest in Western Europe with a coverage area of 504,782sqKm and a coastline of 4,964km.
Spain consists of 17 autonomous regions, two autonomous cities Ceuta and Melila and three small towns off the coast of Morocco – Islas Chafarinas, Renon de Alhucemas and Renon de Valez de la Gomera. Spain climate is a mixture of clear, hot cloudy, moderate and intense temperature depending on the season and region.
The country population is estimate as at July 2008 to be 40,491,052 (CIA World pact book). The official language is Spanish (Castilian) spoken by 72%, other regional languages recognised are Catalan (17%), Galician (7%), Basque (2%) and Aranese (2%). The Spanish are predominately Christian with 94% Roman Catholic while others account for 6%. Life expectancy rate is 76.6years for men and 83:45years for women.
The Country operates a parliamentary monarchy system of government where the king is the head of state and the executive arm is headed by the elected president of the government (equivalent to prime minister). The main industry of Spain includes Textiles and Apparel, Chemicals, Automobiles, Machine tools, tourism and medical equipments amongst others. The currency is Euro with a G.D.P. of 3.8% at real growth rate.
